General information is here.
Can
I bring friends?
Yes - please publicise the concert!
You
can download a flyer here - MS
Word (24k) or PDF (10k)
How
many people will there be in the Big Band?
There were 28!
What
music is the Big Band Playing?
The set list is below.
Are
there any clever arrangements of the Big Band music?
There's
not much time but we are going to try and put together some simple arrangements
in the afternoon.
Can I be part of a small group?
Most likely, yes - contact Steve 0161-881 0505 or email.
(Sean, do you want to do the tune you wrote for Sue?)
How
do I get in the building in the afternoon?
Not sure if the
separate door to upstairs will be open in the afternoon - if not, go into the
main pub downstairs and bear left into the furthest corner where there is a door
next to the end of the bar. Smile sweetly at any hecklers.
I
can't come to the rehearsal...
We really want people to come
to the rehearsal (14:30 for 14:45 start) so we can do the arrangements - otherwise
the concert will be just like a big session - please phone Steve on 0161-881 0505
if you have an unsurmountable problem with coming in the afternoon.
What
if I don't know all the tunes?
See if you can pick them up
in time for the day, but dont worry you can sit some of them out if needs be.
Do
I need to bring music?
Music is allowed. Please bring your
own copies of music and a music stand if you need one.
Is
there a dress code for the band?
Not a compulsory one, but
I'm considering wearing my DJ...
What about tea for the people
who will be there for the afternoon?
We will probably be able
to provide sandwiches (paid for JMI).
There are numerous good eateries
in nearby Chorlton (could be a better bet).
There's also a Kentucky Fried
Chicken (yum!) and a MacDonalds (double yum!) a mere 5 minutes away.
...don't
be late back now!
If you want butties we will need to know in advance
- please phone Steve on 0161-881 0505 or email
Steve.
I'm worried about the idea of a PA system...
This will be more of a sound reinforcement thing than anything loud! There
will just be a few mics out to give a general ambient pickup of the sound on stage.
You
don't need to bring pickups for insruments.
Recording and
photos
We will be doing a sound recording and taking some
photos to send to our sponsors, the JMI in London - who will probably hide them
away in a vault and it is likely that they will never be heard of again.
